The braided islands of the Tigris River between the city of Samarra and Balad

The area around the river is considered to be one of the most important agricultural areas in Iraq, as it is considered the beating heart of it, in addition to the proximity of transport routes from this area, as it is easy to transfer agricultural crops to the market without difficulties. The islands of this area differ in terms of composition, type of soil and type of investments. The phenomenon of islands has emerged in recent years as a result of several reasons, including drought, increasing temperatures, lack of rain and snowfall in the sources of rivers, as well as the lack of coordination with neighboring countries to obtain a certain proportion of the water entering the Iraqi territory to be initiated, and the large number of irrigation projects and dams, all of which have a role in revitalizing Carrot growth. Therefore, the braided islands phenomenon is one of the negative phenomena affecting the course of the river, and that the beginning of these islands is evidence that the river is in the stages of late maturity and early aging. The study area as well as the difference in water discharge.
